All On 4

All-on-4 diagramThe All-on-4 concept is an increasingly popular restorative treatment for people who are missing all or most of their teeth. Patients in our practice frequently request this specific treatment option due to its strength and durability, efficient procedure, and the myriad of benefits over traditional dentures. Our team of professionals at Central Dental Specialists is highly skilled at executing the All-on-4 method, and would love to give you the smile you deserve.

What Is the All-on-4 Treatment Concept?

“All-on-4” refers to all the teeth in a single arch being supported by at least four (but sometimes up to six) dental implants. In this type of treatment, the implant posts are surgically inserted through the denture, securing the denture in place. Unlike with other implant restorations such as fixed bridges and removable overdentures that require several months and multiple office visits to be completed, the All-on-4 treatment concept allows you to leave our office with your new smile after just one procedure.

Benefits of the All-on-4 Method

In addition to requiring only one surgery, there are numerous other advantages of the All-on-4 concept compared to other restorative treatments. The dental implants used in this method are longer and placed at an angle to capture maximum bone density, meaning that even patients with significant jawbone deterioration can undergo the procedure. This also reduces the need for bone grafting that may be required for other restorative treatments.

Most patients find the All-on-4 method to be a desirable alternative to traditional dentures. Traditional dentures can be inconvenient, uncomfortable or painful, and even embarrassing. They lose grip and need to be refitted frequently, and they do not always look or function like your natural teeth. In contrast, the All-on-4 treatment concept provides you with a new smile that looks natural, functions like your own teeth would, and is firmly secured in place without the need for adhesive products. You will be able to chew and speak normally, and care for your replacement teeth the same as you would for natural teeth.

What to Expect With All-on-4 Treatment

The first step towards achieving your new smile is to come into our office for a consultation. We will perform an oral exam, discuss your dental and medical history, and take x-rays and impressions to determine if you are a good candidate for the All-on-4 treatment concept. Most patients who are missing a full arch or both arches of teeth are potentially suited for all-on-4, since the treatment has even been approved for people with medical issues.

If our team concludes that you are a good candidate, we will work with you to develop a specific treatment plan and provide you with detailed information about the procedure and healing process. You will undergo surgery to have your implants placed in your jaw, but the implants and dentures are secured at the same time, leaving you with an immediate, stable restoration in one day. At the time of your procedure, we will discuss the healing process, including the use of pain medication, and advise you of symptoms to look out for as you heal. Your implants will need to fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration, which can take several months, so we will most likely prescribe a soft food diet as part of your treatment plan.

If you are missing most or all of your teeth and are ready for a highly efficient way to restore the look and feel of your smile, the All-on-4® Treatment Concept might be right for you. To learn more, call Central Dental Specialists at (781) 438-6618 today.
